Nationwide Children’s Hospital researchers Jerry Mendell and Brian Kaspar led their team in successfully delivering follistatin to induce muscle hypertrophy in non-human primates. Their findings are published in Science Translational Medicine.

Muscle Group scientists awarded prestigious NIH Go and Challenge Grants.

Ohio State University Scientist Arthur Burghes was awarded a prestigious NIH American Recovery and Reinvestment Act “Grand Opportunities” Grant to develop a vascular delivery system in order to transduce genes across the blood br ain barrier to treat neurological disorders. The funding is for $3.3 million for 2 years. Also involved in the work are Brian Kaspar and Stephen Kolb.

Paul Janssen also from Ohio State University was awarded a prominent NIH American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Challenge Grant to study electrical and mechanical behavior of live human myocardium in health and disease. The funding is for $500,000 for 2 years.
